Despite the fact that the top order has often struggled in the all-format series against England over the past month, India captain Rohit Sharma has said there are no problems with it.
Several top-order batters, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan, struggled on Sunday as India celebrated their ODI series victory. It was up to wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya to save the tourists and help them win the game and the series.
In India's five-wicket victory in the ODI series, Pant struck an unbeaten 125 and Pandya made 71 off 55 deliveries. All of this came about after the tourists were reduced to 38/3, with Sharma (17), Dhawan (1), and Kohli (17) just making up a small portion of the runs needed to win the match at the top.
The captain, however, just said that it is a problem that needs to be solved.
Not at all (batting issues). But we are aware that it is a matter worth investigating. We lost wickets as a result of several poor strokes we made. But because they have been doing it for a while, I still believe those men will succeed. Given that I am aware of the value they add, I have nothing further to add.
The T20 World Cup this year and the ODI World Cup in 2023 will both see injury worries, according to harma, who also said that India has a "strong" bench strength to handle those situations.
"There are a few reliable players on our bench who have been waiting for a while to play. Because of the type of games we play and the need to manage workload, we want to develop that bench strength. It is a deliberate effort."
Sharma commented on the satisfaction he felt after winning the T20I and ODI series despite challenging circumstances.
"I'm quite happy (with the win). We came here with the intention of accomplishing a team goal in white-ball, and we succeeded. While there are still areas for improvement, we are happy with the effort. I recall that the last time we were here, we were defeated. Although winning games is difficult in this location, our performance throughout the entire white-ball leg was excellent.
"It was something I had long wanted to do, and it was brilliantly accomplished. The good news is that these players haven't batted for a long time in the middle overs, as Rishabh and Hardik demonstrated for us. Both of them were professional; we never got the impression that they were scared. They executed fantastic cricket shots. Yuzvendra Chahal is a crucial player who bowls in a variety of forms and has a tonne of experience. He missed the most recent T20 World Cup, which was sad, but I'm happy with how he's recovered. Hardik also made effective use of the dimension when bowling. One side was long and made good use of the bouncers "Sharma tacked on.
