England batsman Ollie Pope has been added to the Test squad for the tour of India.
“Pope who had sustained a left shoulder injury in August 2020 while playing against Pakistan at home has fully recovered”, said ECB in a statement released earlier this Wednesday.
The statement further read, “The England medical team are satisfied that he is available for selection.”
The 23-year-old has practiced with the full England squad over the past two days in Chennai ahead of the first Test match.
In 13 Test matches for England, Pope has scored 645 runs at an average of 37.94, comprising of one century and five half centuries. He also has an impressive first-class record with 2792 runs in 43 games at an average of just above 55.
England will have their final practice at the MA Chidambaram Stadium tomorrow before the first Test that starts on Friday.
