Islamabad United vs Multan Sultans

Multan Sultans 217/5 in 20 overs (David 71; Wasim Jr 1-39) beat Islamabad United 197 in 19.4 overs (Shadab 91; Khushdil 4-35) by 20 runs. Player of the Match: Tim David.

A 42-ball 91 from Shadab Khan went in vain as Islamabad United fell 20 runs short of the target of 218 set by Multan Sultans in Match 8 of the Pakistan Super League 2021/22. This was the fourth successive victory for Multan Sultans.

Shan Masood set up the platform with a 31-ball 43, with five fours and two sixes, after the Sultans were put in to bat. Mohammad Rizwan and Sohaib Maqsood were run out after playing 11 balls each.

Masood's dismissal reduced the Sultans to 78/3 in 10.2 overs. Tim David and Rilee Rossouw then launched a counterattack to take them to 217/5. David struck six sixes and six fours for his 29-ball 71, while Rossouw remained unbeaten on 67.

Chasing a mammoth total, Paul Stirling and Alex Hales started with a flurry of boundaries, but could not continue with the onslaught for long. Shadab Khan single-handedly kept the United in the game until the 19th over, but could not guide them across the target. Khushdil Shah took four wickets for the Sultans.
