Pakistan will complete their group stage with the final match against Scotland in Group 2 on Sunday evening. Having won all four matches, including a thrashing of arch-rivals India by 10 wickets, Pakistan will back themselves to finish the group stage unbeaten. They are almost certain to top this group and will look to fine tune any possible faults until their semi-final clash possibly against Australia.
Scotland started this tournament with three consecutive wins in the first round, including a victory over Bangladesh. However, their form dipped during the Super 12s. They could not handle the Afghan spinners and were blown away by Ruben Trumpelmann in the Namibia match. After putting up a fight against New Zealand, they were blown away by India. They will look to get as many positives as possible from their last match in the tournament.
For Pakistan, all players have contributed at different point of time. At the top, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam have ensured there is no pressure on the middle order. Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik, and Asif Ali have stood up under pressure.
Shaheen Shah Afridi has spearheaded the attack efficiently, while Haris Rauf, Imad Wasim and Shadab Khan have stepped up. This will be an opportunity for Hasan Ali, whose form has been a bother, to find his mojo ahead of next big stage.
Despite their poor showing in the Super 12s, some Scotland players have impressed. All eyes will be on the likes of Mark Watt, Michael Leask, George Munsey and Richie Berrington.
