Former India and Gujarat wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Wednesday (December 9). The 35-year old made his international debut at the age of 17 back in 2002 during India’s tour of England and represented the country in 25 Tests, 38 ODIs and 2 T20Is. At the domestic circuit he has been a stalwart scoring over 11,000 runs in 194 matches and even led Gujarat to its maiden Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare trophy triumphs.
Patel issued a statement on Twitter announcing his retirement from all forms of the game.
“I feel at peace having played the game in its truest tenets, with dignity and in the spirit of the game and more importantly with great camaraderie. As I walk away a proud man, having fulfilled more dreams than I thought possible, I hope to be remembered with that thought and find your support for my future endeavors,” he wrote.
