The 2nd AGM of the International Council of Wheelchair Cricket was held on 1st February 2022 through the virtual link meeting by all member countries and all the executive Committee members from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, England, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka & Iran.
The 2nd AGM decided that the 2nd T20 Asia Cup will be hosted in Pakistan. The majority of the members appreciated the efforts of the Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council to uplift the game of wheelchair cricket its excellence level. The executive committee of ICWC approved the proposal submitted by the PWCC to organize the 2nd Asia Cup in Pakistan in Jan-Feb 2023 in four major cities of the country. A total of seven Asian member countries of ICWC will take part in 2nd Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan. The committee also emphasizes opening the doors for new members to other continents, in this regard Africa, Zimbabwe and Liberia are willing to be the new associate members of ICWC after the next ICWC meeting will be held soon. Cambodia, Uganda, West Indies will be under focus by ICWC. ICWC will also consider making a calendar year plan to provide opportunities to all the players to showcase their talent at the international level by organizing bilateral and triangular series of wheelchair cricket.
ICWC will announce the energetic and dynamic members team that will start the coordination with international sports bodies and Paralympic committees for the betterment of wheelchair cricket enrols in the world Games.
ICWC also announced the promotion of Ghazal Khan CEO of Divyang Cricket Control Board of India (DCCBI) as the Director of International Affairs. All the members of ICWC congratulated Ghazal Khan and appreciate her dedicative hard work for Wheelchair Cricket.
On this occasion, Ghazal Khan extended her gratitude to all the members of ICWC and the Indian Wheelchair Cricket. Ghazal Khan said, “I am very enthusiastic about wheelchair cricket and we have a lot of great tournaments ahead of Wheelchair Cricket, to participate in the 2nd Asia Cup will absolutely be a gear changing tournament for Indian Wheelchair Cricket Team.”
