Changing names have brought a change in fortunes of a few IPL franchises. Punjab will hope that happens for them in the best way when they take the field for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League.
They have only made it to the final four twice in the last 13 seasons, and are yet to claim their first title.
Last season in UAE, Punjab mounted a freak comeback in the later stages of the tournament, but their playoffs chances were shattered by CSK in their final league match.
This year, the Punjab Kings have a few new faces to rely upon. Australian pacer Jhye Richardson was the most expensive buy for PBKS (₹ 14 crore) in the 2021 IPL Auction.
Apart from him Punjab also spend some big bucks to bring in 24-year old Riley Meredith (₹ 8 crore) and Moises Henriques (₹ 4.2 crore). Whereas Dawid Malan at ₹ 1.5 crore has the potential to be the biggest bargain in IPL history.
