After a three-year tenure, Punjab Kings of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have decided to part ways with head coach Anil Kumble. It is said that they have reached out to candidates like Eion Morgan, Trevor Bayliss, and a former India coach for the position.

Punjab Kings placed in the bottom half of the IPL points standings in each of the three seasons that Kumble managed the franchise, finishing fifth in 2020 and 2021 when the league had eight teams and sixth in 2022 when it had 10 teams, according to the report.

Despite assembling a well-rounded group at the 2022 auction, the franchise has suffered from constant switching and replacing of captains and coaches. Liam Livingstone and Jonny Bairstow of England, Kagiso Rabada of South Africa, senior Indian hitter Shikar Dhawan, and bowling all-arounder Odean Smith of the West Indies were among the marquee purchases.
