Madhya Pradesh finished Day 2 of the Ranji Trophy final against Mumbai, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, on 123/1. After Tushar Deshpande (1-31) trapped Himanshu Mantri (31) leg-before, Yash Dubey (44*) and Shubham Sharma (31*) batted through the rest of the day, adding an unbroken stand of 76. MP now trail by 251 runs in the first innings.
Earlier, Mumbai lost Shams Mulani (12) before they could add a run to their overnight total of 248/5. But Sarfaraz Khan (134) then added 40 with Tanush Kotian, 26 with Dhawal Kulkarni, 39 with Deshpande, and 21 with Mohit Awasthi. Sarfaraz was the last to be dismissed, perishing while trying to hit Gaurav Yadav out of the ground. For MP, Yadav (4-106) and Anubhav Agarwal (3-81) did most of the damage.
There is turn in the pitch, which will bring the Mumbai spinners into the game. Kotian and Mulani may end up bowling a lot more overs than they anticipate.
