Bengal 773/7 decl. (Sudip Gharami 186, Anustup Majumdar 117; Sushant Mishra 3-140) lead Jharkhand 139/5 (Nazim Siddiqui 53; Sayan Mondal 3-32) by 634 runs.
Bengal finally declared on the third afternoon, on 773/7, but not before all nine of their batters made least fifty, thereby setting a new world record for most fifties in the same team innings in a First-class innings. The last of them was Akash Deep, who remained unbeaten on an 18-ball 53 with eight sixes. Nazim Siddiqui then got a quick 53, but Jharkhand collapsed from 72/0 to 139/5 by stumps. They still trail by 634 runs.
Mumbai 647/8 decl. (Suved Parkar 252, Sarfaraz Khan 153; Deepak Dhapola 3-89) and 261/3 (Yashasvi Jaiswal 103; Dikshanshu Negi 1-31) lead Uttarakhand 114 (Kamal Singh 40; Shams Mulani 5-39) by 794 runs.
The Mumbai bowlers, led by Shams Mulani (5-39), shot out Uttarakhand for 114 on Day 3, with only Kamal Singh (40) putting up resistance of any sort. Despite a lead of 533, Mumbai batted again, and stretched their lead to 794 by stumps. Yashasvi Jaiswal blazed away to 103, while Prithvi Shaw (72) and Aditya Tare (57) both got quick hundreds. There will some interest around a probable four-digit target as well as whether Suved Parkar follows his 252 with a hundred on First-class debut.
Karnataka 253 (Ravikumar Samarth 57; Saurabh Kumar 4-73) and 114 (Srinivas Sharath 23*; Saurabh Kumar 3-36) lost to Uttar Pradesh 155 (Priyam Garg 39; Ronit More 3-47) and 213/5 (Karan Sharma 93*; Vijaykumar Vyshak 3-47) by 5 wickets. Player of the Match: Karan Sharma.
With a five-wicket win against Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2021/22 Ranji Trophy. They took the last two wickets early in the morning to bowl out Karnataka for 114. However, they still needed to score 213, and at 28/2, things not look great. Priyam Garg then smashed a 60-ball 52 before UP became 114/5. Captain Karan Sharma (93*) and Prince Yadav (33*) then saw them home.
Punjab 219 (Abhishek Sharma 47; Anmolpreet Singh 47; Anubhav Agarwal 3-36) and 120/5 (Anmolpreet Singh 31; Kumar Kartikeya 4-31) trail Madhya Pradesh 397 (Shubham Sharma 102; Vinay Choudhary 5-83) by 58 runs.
Madhya Pradesh need five wickets – and perhaps a few runs, if Punjab score more than 58 on the fourth morning – to become the second team, after UP, to qualify for the semi-finals. Resuming on 238/2, they lost Shubham Sharma for his overnight score of 102 before Rajat Patidar (82) and Akshat Raghuvanshi (69) added 99 for the fifth wicket. Vinay Choudhary then ran through the tail to bowl out MP for 397, restricting them to a 278-run lead. Kumar Kartikeya (4-31) then reduced Punjab to 120/5 by stumps.
