Shane Warne, unarguably the greatest leg-spinner of all time, died at 52 due to cardiac arrest.
'Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived,' the statement from Warne's management reads. 'The family requests privacy at this time and will provide further details in due course.'
Warne played 145 Test matches for Australia between 1992 and 2007. His tally of 708 wickets are still the second-highest in the history of Test cricket. He also played 194 ODIs for 293 wickets, scored over 3,000 Test runs, and was an excellent slip fielder.
His last Test appearance for Australia came in 2006/07, against England. Following that, he led Rajasthan Royals to the Indian Premier League championship title in its inaugural season.
