India's cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has pledged to continue with his side's aggressive batting approach ahead of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, despite their recent loss in the ODI series against Australia. The team's attacking style again proved costly as they fell to a 21-run defeat to Australia in the third and final ODI in Chennai on Wednesday, a result that cost them the series and the No.1 ODI team ranking.

Despite some experienced players making poor shots in the run chase, Rohit insisted that he would not judge his team based on a few poor shots, and that he wanted to encourage his players to continue with their attacking style. The captain also defended Suryakumar Yadav, who claimed an unwanted record of being dismissed for three consecutive golden ducks.

Rohit praised Australia for their efforts in bouncing back after losing the opening match of the series and said that India could learn a lot from their performance. He also emphasised the importance of his players applying themselves and giving themselves a chance to succeed, especially on wickets they are familiar with.

India's next challenge will be the T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in the UAE and Oman in October-November 2022.
