Sri Lanka Cricket announced a cash reward of USD 100,000 for its national team for winning the T20I series against India. Having lost the first match, Sri Lanka came back to win the three-match series 2-1.
‘The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket lauded the effort of the players, coaches, and the support staff for bringing this much-needed victory, which it believes will augur well for the National team going forward,’ SLC said in a statement. ‘Hence, in order to recognize this victory, the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket decided to award a sum of US$ 100,000 for the National team.’
Under Dasun Shanaka’s leadership. it was Sri Lanka's first ever T20I series win against India. It was much-needed for them, as they are going through a tough time on and off the field.
Numerous senior cricketers Kusal Perera, Angelo Mathews and Dimuth Karunaratne did not feature in the tour, while Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis, and Niroshan Dickwella were suspended in both series for breaking Covid-19 protocols in Durham last month.
