Sourav Ganguly, the incumbent BCCI President, has been appointed Chair of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket Committee. Ganguly will replace Anil Kumble, who held the position since 2012.
Kumble is largely credited for improving the spread of the DRS in international cricket, and for introducing strict protocols for addressing suspect bowling action.
'I am delighted to welcome Sourav to the position of Chair of the ICC Men's Cricket Committee. His experience as one of the world's best players and latterly as an administrator will help us shape our cricketing decisions moving forward,' said ICC spokesperson Greg Barclay.
Further, the ICC announced a group, comprising Imran Khawaja (Chair), Ross McCollum, Lawson Naidoo and Ramiz Raja, to review the current state of the game in a war-torn Afghanistan.
ICC stuck to the current format of the World Test Championship. However, the ICC Super League will be discontinued for the the 2027 ODI World Cup. Instead, the top ten teams will earn a direct qualification, while the remaining four spots will be determined through qualifiers.
