Cricket South Africa announced a 21-member squad for an upcoming Test series against India. The first Test of the three-match series will be played in Centurion, from 26 December. Johannesburg and Cape Town will host the other two Tests.
Dean Elgar will lead the side, with Temba Bavuma as deputy. It will be Elgar's first assignment at home after being named as a permanent skipper before the series against West Indies earlier this year.
Duanne Olivier, who played his last Test in 2019, has been recalled to the side. Sisanda Magala and Ryan Rickelton have earned maiden call-ups. South Africa have also included two left-arm seamers, Marco Jansen and Beuran Hendricks.
Elgar and Aiden Markram will open the innings, followed by a robust middle order, consisting of Rassie van der Dussen, Quinton de Kock and Bavuma.
