Day 2 of the second Test match, at St George's Park, belonged to South Africa. They posted 452 before sending five Bangladesh batters back into the pavilion for just 139.

Coming at No. 8, Keshav Maharaj made 84 off just 95 balls, forging an 80-run stand with Wiaan Mulder to lift South Africa from 300/6 to 418/8. Maharaj hit nine fours and three sixes.

Tamim Iqbal and Najmul Hossain Shanto then added 79 for the second wicket before Tamim's wicket triggered a collapse as Wiaan Mulder claimed three wickets in just six overs.

However, the major worry for Bangladesh on Day 3 will be to bat against Maharaj and Simon Harmer. The pitch has already deteriorated a lot, and Maharaj has been a constant source of trouble for both Yasir Ali and Mushfiqur Rahim.

South Africa are likely to employ their spinners early on Day 3. The first target for Yasir and Mushfiqur will be to add 114 runs to avoid the follow-on. There is not much batting left after them, and all depends on them to take Bangladesh close to South Africa's first innings total.
