Shamilia Connell got Tazmin Brits and Anne Bosch early, but Wolvaardt and Sune Luus added 141 for the third wicket to stabilise the innings. As Luus held the innings, Wolvaardt kept the scoreboard ticking. Luus took 93 balls for her 56 before getting bowled by Anisa Mohammed. Wolvaardt scored 117 in 123 balls, while Chloe Tyron made a 24-ball 43 as South Africa finished on 299/8. Connell finished with 4-54.
Ayabonga Khaka then struck twice in her first two overs to reduce the West Indies to 14/2, while Stafanie Taylor (13) retired hurt after playing 24 balls. They were unable to forge partnerships, as Hayley Matthews, Chinelle Henry, and Shemaine Campbelle failed to convert their starts.
Kycia Knight waged a lone battle, scoring 69 in 94 balls before being dismissed by Raisibe Ntozakhe. Barring Knight, none of the batters scored more than 20.
