Chennai Super Kings look to redeem their pathetic season as they clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a pretty important game for them at Dubai. Chennai need a win to keep their chances a little believable in this season and will want to put up a strong performance.
Hyderabad are likely still recovering from the shock loss to Rajasthan Royals after another Rahul Tewatia blitz. They have had mixed luck this season so far and will hope to put up a strong showing to challenge Kolkata and Bangalore in the mid-table tussle.
The last time these teams met this year, Sunrisers reigned over Chennai despite an average performance with the bat. The bowling helped them stay alive and they will hope for the same this time.
Team news and predicted XI
SRH could look to play the same line-up as they have had success against CSK before. If they do want to sharpen their middle-order, they might choose to bring back Abdul Samad for Vijay Shankar but that might affect their bowling quite a bit.
CSK, on the other hand, are likely to be unchanged despite the loss last game. Narayanan Jagadeesan clicked and the batting seemed improved although still slow. They might experiment a lot more with their batting order, though. Bravo will likely retain his spot due to the weak batting line-up.
Predicted XI
Sunrisers Hyderabad
David Warner (c), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg, Vijay Shankar, Abhishek Sharma, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, T Natarajan
Chennai Super Kings
Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (C&WK), N Jagadeesan, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Karn Sharma
Fantasy tips
- Dubai has beocme incredibly slower so banking on spinners is a good option.
- Rashid Khan has shown incredible temperament this time ad finished with figures of 12/0 in the last game against Chennai.
- Dhoni made 40s in the last game and has looked better with his intent and touch in the last couple of matches. He is a good pick for this match.
- Faf du Plessis, Jonny Bairstow and David Warner are safe picks given their individual forms this year.
- Shane Watson has a potent weakness against inswing and spinners turning away from him and SRH have plenty of both to trouble him.
- Khaleel Ahmed has been quite a handful and has a knack of picking up wickets. He is a good left-field choice as captain.
