Sri Lanka included uncapped fast bowlers Nuwan Thushara, Chamika Gunasekara and Shiran Fernando in their 17-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, beginning on 16 January at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
Kusal Perera and Wanindu Hasaranga will miss the series due to injuries, while Avishka Fernando, Janith Liyanage and Kamil Mishara will not feature because of being tested for Covid-19. Dhananjaya De Silva will not be the part of the series either, as he is on paternity leave following the birth of his first child.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka have recalled Kusal Mendis, Jeffrey Vandersay, Nuwan Thushara, Shiran Fernando, Chamika Gunasekara, Dinesh Chandimal, Nuwan Pradeep and Kamindu Mendis. Chandimal, Pradeep and Kamindu were initially not included in the main squad.
The standby options are Ashen Bandara, Pulina Tharanga, Nimesh Vimukthi, Ashian Daniel, Asitha Fernando and Vishwa Fernando.
