The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to increase the match fee for senior women's national players playing white-ball cricket from $250 to $750 in 2023.
"During a meeting on January 31, 2023, the Sri Lanka Cricket Executive Committee decided to raise the match fees for the National Women's Players for the year 2023. As a result, match fees for both white-ball formats have risen from US$250 to US$750 per match, per player "On Tuesday, Sri Lanka Cricket issued a statement.
Sri Lanka Cricket announced on Tuesday that each regular player will receive $750 per month. Each reserve player in the squad will receive 25% of the match fee.
"Furthermore, each player will receive a US$ 250 winning bonus for each match won by the team, whether in a bilateral or international tournament," according to the release.
The move is part of Sri Lanka Cricket's ongoing efforts to improve women's cricket in the country and empower female cricketers. The decision takes effect on January 1, 2023.
The team has recently performed well, with the Sri Lanka women's team defeating hosts South Africa in the first match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup.
