Let us have a look at how each Indian player fared in the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar 7 (M 3, W 5, Ec 5.47)
With five scalps at an exceptional economy rate of 5.47, Bhuvneshwar was India’s top wicket-taker. This included 4-22 in the first T20I, where he was named the Player of the Match.
Rahul Chahar 7 (M 2, W 4, Ec 5.25)
Rahul Chahar created the most wicket-taking chances for India and also bowled tightly. India should use him regularly from now on, at least in T20Is. He also took an exceptional catch in the second match.
Suryakumar Yadav 7 (M 1, R 50, SR 147, C 2)
Suryakumar carried his ODI momentum forward to bag his second T20I fifty. India missed him in the middle order in the next two outings. He also held two catches.
Kuldeep Yadav 6 (M 2, W 2, ER 7.66, R 23, SR 82)
Despite claiming two wickets, Kuldeep did not get much support from the fielders. He top-scored for his side in the third match, with 23 not out in 28.
Deepak Chahar 6 (M 1, W 2, Ec 8)
Deepak Chahar took a couple of wickets in his only match. He swung the game India’s way by dismissing a well-set Charith Asalanka.
Yuzvendra Chahal 6 (M 1, W 1, Ec 4.75)
Chahal was India’s best bowler in the first match, but went into isolation after that.
Varun Chakravarthy 6 (M 3, W 2, Ec 5.30)
Chakravarthy did not threaten Sri Lanka as much as expected in his debut series, though he was economical throughout the series.
Shikhar Dhawan 5.5 (M 3, R 86, SR 109)
Dhawan struggled to find his timing in the first two games before bagging a golden duck in the third. However, he topped the runs chart, aggregating 86 runs at 109.
Ruturaj Gaikwad 3.5 (M 2, R 35, SR 125)
Gaikwad opened ahead of Devdutt Padikkal, and made 21 and 14 in the last two matches.
Devdutt Padikkal 3.5 (M 2, R 38, SR 100)
Padikkal came to bat at his unpreferable No. 3 in his debut series. He compiled 38 at a run a ball.
Sanju Samson 2.5 (M 3, R 34, SR 94, St 1)
A disappointing series for Samson, who struggled mostly against spin. However, he looked in good touch in the opening match until he was pinned leg before.
Krunal Pandya 2 (M 1, W 1, Ec 8, R 3, SR 100)
Krunal returned 1-16 in the opening match before testing positive for Covid-19.
Hardik Pandya 2 (M 1, R 10, SR 83, W 1, Ec 8.50)
Hardik’s miserable form with bat and ball continued, though he took a wicket in the first match from two overs.
Nitish Rana 2 (M 2, R 15, SR 56)
Rana wasted all three opportunities – two in T20Is and one in ODIs – on this tour. To be fair, he batted mostly with the tailenders.
Chetan Sakariya 2 (M 2, W 1, Ec 9.27)
Sakariya conceded 34 for his only wicket in the second match. Dhawan did not ask him to bowl in the third.
Sandeep Warrier 2 (M 1, W 0)
Sandip bowled three overs on debut, returned 0-23.
Navdeep Saini 1 (M 1, W 0)
Saini featured in the second match, but did not bowl or bat. He hurt his left shoulder in the field.
Prithvi Shaw 1 (M 1, R 0)
A first-ball duck on his T20I debut for Shaw, courtesy of a peach from Chameera.
