Ireland rode on a fifty from Paul Stirling, and 46 from Kevin O'Brien, to defeat the United Arab Emirates by seven wickets in the Summer T20 Bash. They chased down 124 with seven balls remaining.
The UAE got off an ordinary start after electing to bat first. Waseem Muhammad, who had top scored in the last game, fell prey to Mark Adair in the second over.
Curtis Campher then struck twice in the last over of the Powerplay to reduce the UAE to 26/3. He got rid of Chirag Suri, who was looking good before holing out to George Dockrell. Chundangapoyil Rizwan then hit straight to Campher.
Muhammad Usman and Vriitya Arvind added 47 for the fifth wicket to steady the innings. Usman did the bulk of the scoring, making 35 off 32 before falling to Benjamin White. A quickfire 17 from Kashif Daud propelled them to 123. For Ireland, Campher finished with 4-0-19-3, while Adair and White chipped in with two wickets each.
Paul Stirling and Kevin O'Brien then got Ireland off a great start, adding 90 to take the sting out of the UAE attack. Stirling notched his half-century before being dismissed by Basil Hameed. Campher then struck two quick fours to take his team across the target.
Brief Scores: United Arab Emirates 123/7 in 20 overs (Muhammad Usman 35; Curtis Campher 3-19) lost to Ireland 124/3 in 18.5 overs (Paul Stirling 53; Basil Hameed 3-20) by 7 wickets with 7 balls to spare.
