A 93-run stand in 57 balls between Craig Williams (50 in 39 balls) and Stephan Baard (39 in 41) steered Namibia to a five-wicket win against Scotland in the Summer T20 Bash in Dubai.
Scotland struggled to reach 137/8 after Gerhard Erasmus won the toss and asked them to bat. Richie Berrington scored a 46-ball 61, but none of his teammates reached even 25. Had Josh Davey not made an unbeaten 4-ball 11 from No. 10, Scotland could not get past 130.
For Namibia, Ruben Trumpelmann bowled a maiden, and finished with 2-23, while Jan Frylinck had 2-24. J.J. Smit and Bernard Scholtz also bowled tightly, taking a wicket each.
Coming to the chase, Namibia lost Zane Green in the opening over, bowled by Josh Davey (1-35). Williams and Baard held the fort from there, and helped their side regain control.
Namibia were 109/2, but slipped to 120/5 in quick time. Smit (20*) and Frylinck (3*) ensured no further damage, as they reached the target in the 18th over. For Scotland, Mark Watt returned excellent figures of 4-0-11-2, but it went in vain.
Brief scores: Scotland 137/8 in 20 overs (Richie Berrington 61; Ruben Trumpelmann 2-23) lost to Namibia 138/5 in 17.4 overs (Craig Williams 50; Mark Watt 2-11) by 5 wickets with 14 balls to spare. Player of the Match: Craig Williams.
