Washington Sundar will miss India’s upcoming three-match T20I series against West Indies, starting 16 February in Kolkata. Sundar, who recovered from an injury to return to international cricket after a long time for the recent ODI series against West Indies, suffered a Grade 1 hamstring injury. He will take a few weeks to recover.
A Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) official told Cricbuzz that Sundar will now report at the NCA on 15 February 15, and must spend three weeks there.
Sundar did not travel with India’s T20I squad, who are currently in Kolkata. He became the third Indian to be ruled out of the T20I series, West Indies after K.L. Rahul and Axar Patel. Rahul sustained an upper left hamstring strain during fielding in the 2nd ODI, on 9 February, and Axar is in the final stage of his rehabilitation after recovering from Covid-19.
The BCCI have named Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Hooda as replacements for Rahul and Axar, and Kuldeep Yadav for Sundar,
