The ICC has announced the full schedule of the 2021 Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled at Oman and the UAE. Two big-ticket encounters – India versus Pakistan and Australia versus England – will be played on 24 and 30 October respectively.
The tournament will get underway on 17 October with double-headers in Round 1: hosts Oman will go up against Papua New Guinea to start the proceedings, and that will be followed by Scotland versus Bangladesh. All four teams are placed in Group B.
The Round 1 Group A teams – Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands and Namibia – will be in action on the next day in Abu Dhabi. All Round 1 encounters will run till 22 October. The top two teams from each group will join the top eight T20I sides in the Super12 stage of the tournament.
The Super12 stage will begin on 23 October with Group 1 contests, with Australia taking on South Africa in Abu Dhabi, followed by England versus West Indies in Dubai. Group 2 teams New Zealand, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan will start next day.
The Group stage games will conclude on 8 November. The semi-finals will take place in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, on 10 and 11 November respectively. The final will be played in Dubai, on 14 November. All knockout games have reserve days.
