Australia have taken a giant stride towards a 4-0 scoreline after bowling out England for 188 on Day 2 of the fifth Ashes Test match, in Hobart. The English batting unit failed yet again, and they needed a 36 from Chris Woakes to reach a reasonable total.
Australia then closed the day on 37/3, with Steven Smith and the nightwatch Scott Boland at the crease. It has not been a great series for Smith so far, where has been averaging just a shade over 33. He will eye his first century in the series.
With a lead of 152 and the likes of Cam Green and Travis Head yet to come, Australia are in a commanding position. They can also rely on Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins for breezy knocks. On Day 2, Nathan Lyon struck three sixes in his 27-ball 31.
With three days remaining, Australia are unlikely to rush. They will be eyeing to bat out the opponents before taking the field.
England are yet to cross 300 in the series. For them to have a chance, the bowlers need to restrict Australia under 250. Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson will be the key for them. They will expect more from Woakes, who has really not made the impact many would have hoped for in this game.
Fantasy Tips
- Smith and Head shouldn't be ignored.
- Among bowlers, Broad and Robinson are better options.
- England may have to bat again. In this case, Starc and Cummins are must-haves for your team.
