David Warner and Babar Azam were among the most notable exclusions as teams assembled their squads in drafts for the 2022 edition of the Hundred. Lockie Ferguson and Tabraiz Shamsi were also overlooked by the franchises, while Australia's World Cup-winning squad dominated the selection.

London Spirits, who finished at the bottom in the inaugural edition, were offered the first pick, and they went for Kieron Pollard. They tried to acquire Sunil Narine, but Oval Invincibles employed Right-to-match (RTM) card to retain him. They also signed Beth Mooney and Megan Schutt.

Rachael Haynes and Annabel Sutherland were picked up by Welsh Fire, who also acquired Tammy Beaumont as a captain. Alana King and Meg Lanning will play for Trent Rockets.
