Chepauk Super Gillies booked a slot in the final of Tamil Nadu Premier League 2021 with a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over Dindigul Dragons. They chased down 104 with four overs to spare. They will now face Ruby Trichy Warriors in the final.
The Super Gillies were in control of the proceedings from the word go. Kaushik Gandhi and N. Jagadeesan added 69 for the opening wicket to take the sting out of the contest. Jagadeesan got out on 21.
Gandhi noticed another half-century, scoring 53 in 41 balls before falling to Rangaraj Suthesh. The Super Gillies needed just 14 at this point, and Uthirasamy Sasidev finished things with a six off R. Vivek in the 16th over.
The Dragons’ innings never took off after early setbacks. Sai Kishore struck twice in the fifth over to reduce them to 23/2. Vimal Kumar struggled to get going, and his stay came to end after getting beaten by the pace. Mani Bharti then went out for a two-ball duck.
While the skipper Hari Nishanth led from the front, holding the fort from one end, the others could not stick around him. The next five batters could not even touch the double figures. R. Vivek, the hero of the last match, ended up becoming Kishore’s third victim of the day.
Nishanth made 56 off 46 deliveries before getting dismissed in the 14th over. The Dragons were 83/5 after losing Nishanth. The next six overs yielded just 20 runs as they were skittled out for 102. Sai Kishore picked up three wickets, and R. Alexander had two to his name.
