Veteran Pakistan batsman, Umar Akmal, was suspended under Pakistan Cricket Board’s anti-corruption code on Thursday, day one of the Pakistan Super League’s 2020 edition. He was suspended with immediate effect under Article 4.7.1 of the anti-corruption code prescribed by PCB.
What this means is that he cannot take part in any cricket-related activity as the investigation takes place by PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit.
Quetta Gladiators, Akmal’s team in the Pakistan Super League, can apply for Umar Akmal’s replacement in the Pakistan Super League 2020 that starts today. Quetta will take on Islamabad United in the opening match of the season.
PCB won’t make any comments until the investigation is complete.
