Unmukt Chand is all set to represent Melbourne Renegades in the 2021 season of the Big Bash League. He will thus became the first Indian male cricketer to bag a BBL contract.
Chand had earlier retired from international cricket and migrated to the USA to play in local league cricket. Since he is no longer contracted to the BCCI, he was free to play in BBL.
Chand never represented India men's senior side. But he led the Under-19 squad to the 2012 World Cup title. He also scored a hundred in the final against Australia.
'I've loved watching the Big Bash and players around the world coming in ... it's a great platform and I always wanted to play there. I'm really looking forward in the coming years that I can make a name for myself and hopefully win championships for the teams I play for,' said Chand.
