The first ODI between the USA and Ireland has been cancelled after a member of umpiring crew tested positive for Covid-19. It was supposed to take place on 26 December.
Three other members of the umpiring panel tested negative, but they were in close contact with the Covid-19 positive person. Further, a net bowler has also contracted the virus.
'Cricket Ireland will continue to work closely with USA Cricket, alongside the ICC, to ensure the remainder of the series can continue, if safe to do so,' said a release by USA Cricket.
Earlier, the two-match T20I series ended with a scoreline of 1-1. The next two ODIs are scheduled for 28 and 30 December. As per reports, the authorities will try to bring the officials from the Caribbean.
Earlier, four Irish players had tested positive upon arrival. A day before the opening T20I, there were four Covid-19 positive cases in the American Camp as well.
