The ODI leg of the USA-Ireland series is in jeopardy after the second ODI has been postponed by 24 hours due to Covid-19 cases in both camps. It was supposed to be played on Tuesday, 28 December.
The remaining players, however, returned negative for the antigen test conducted on Monday. Now they await another round of testing, and if all of them return negative again, the second ODI will be played on Wednesday, 29 December.
Earlier, the first ODI of the series was cancelled after one of the match officials contracted the Coronavirus. The other officials also had to isolate themselves for coming in close contact with the Covid-19 positive.
However, all three umpires have tested negative, and they are ready to officiate.
'The 3 umpires who were initially deemed as close contacts to the one positive case in the umpiring group have now all tested negative, and these three umpires now await final ICC confirmation to officiate on December 29th and 30th,' read a statement from USA Cricket.
