Amid the ongoing COVID_19 crisis, when sporting activities around the country have been temporarily suspended, the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) has found out an unique way to maintain the fitness levels of its registered cricketers. In April, the association started online training session for its men cricketers and now VCA has doing the same for the women players as well.
Under the watchful eyes of trainer Abhilasha Pantawane, the VCA women’s players now doing fitness drills from their homes. The session started with a light fitness schedule in the last week of but now it is in full flow, as reported by the Times of India.
Most importantly, Pantawane monitors the entire session online and chips in with his suggestions and guidance, whenever it is required.
“You can’t give the same fitness schedule to the women cricketers as their men counterparts. They were asked to take good rest for proper recovery after gruelling schedule of last season. They were playing matches till the second week of March,” a source close to the association has been quoted by the TOI.
According to fitness experts, female athletes can’t be trained with the same intensity as their male counterparts and that is believed to be the reason behind VCA delaying the start of women’s training session till mid May.
