In the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019 Final between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Abhimanyu Mithun from Karnataka bagged a hat-trick in Bangalore. Interesting this is also the 30th birthday of the bowler.
Abhimanyu Mithun registered a hat-trick in the last three balls of the first innings to restrict Tamil Nadu for 252 in the final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The birthday boy dismissed Shahrukh Khan, M Mohammed and Murugan Ashwin to complete the hat-trick and also a five wicket haul.
Mithun who already had taken two wickets, was asked to deliver the last over of the first innings and in the third delivery the fast bowler removed Shahrukh Khan who was caught by Manish Pandey at long-off. Then the next delivery saw him scalping M Mohammed who was taken brilliantly by Devdutt Padikkal at the deep. Ashwin faced the hat-trick ball to become Mithun’s final prey as Krishnappa Gowtham at extra cover took a simple catch. Earlier Mithun had sent back Murali Vijay and Vijay Shankar to the pavilion.
Mithun became the first Karnataka bowler to record a hat-trick in the Vijay Hazare trophy. He also became the first player to take a hat-trick in Vijay Hazare Trophy final. His final bowling figures read 9.5-0-34-5.
The BCCI congratulated Mithun on the same on Twitter and wrote, “A Hat-trick for Abhimanyu Mithun in the final over, becomes the first Karnataka bowler to take a hat-trick in #VijayHazare Trophy. Tamil Nadu bowled out for 252 in 49.5 overs #KARvTN @paytm”
