Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli etched his name into the record books once again, achieving a remarkable milestone by overtaking Virender Sehwag's Test run tally to become the fifth-highest run-scorer for India in Test cricket. The historic moment occurred during the second Test match against the West Indies at the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad.

Needing just 32 runs to surpass Sehwag's impressive total of 8586 runs, Virat Kohli not only achieved the feat but also left behind former Australian batting sensation Matthew Hayden, who scored 8625 runs in Test cricket.

At the close of play on the opening day in Trinidad, the star batsman remained unbeaten on 87 runs, firmly securing his place as India's fifth-highest run-getter in Test cricket.

With an illustrious career spanning 111 Test matches, Kohli has accumulated an impressive 8642 runs, boasting an average of 49.38 and an incredible 28 centuries to his name.

Topping the list of Indian batsmen with the most Test runs is the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, an icon of the sport worldwide. Sachin scored a staggering 15,921 runs in 200 Test matches at an average of 53.78.

Following Sachin's lead, Rahul Dravid occupies the second spot with 13,288 runs in 164 Tests, exemplifying his consistency and skill at the crease.

Sunil Gavaskar, the trailblazer who was the first player to reach the coveted 10,000-run milestone in Test cricket, holds the third position with 10,122 runs in 125 matches.

VVS Laxman, renowned for his elegant and composed batting style, secures the fourth position with 8781 runs in 134 matches, contributing significantly to India's success on the international stage.
