Yorkshire 191/5 in 20 overs (Brook 83*, Pennington 4-24) beat Worcestershire 179/5 in 20 overs (Wessels 77; Fisher 2-33) by 12 runs. Player of the Match: Jordan Thompson.
Yorkshire regained the top spot in the North Group with a 12-run win against Worcestershire at Headingley. Joe Root’s men were left reeling at 50/5 before Harry Brook (83* off 54) and Jordan Thompson (66* off 28) forged an unbeaten 141-run stand to take them to 191/5. Dillon Pennington (4-2-24-2) bowled magnificently in the Powerplay.
Coming to chase, the efforts of Riki Wessels (77 off 45) and Ben Cox (61* of 37) went in vain, for they did not find much support. Worcestershire closed on 179/5.
Durham v Northamptonshire, Chester-le-Street
Durham 157/5 in 20 overs (Dickson 51*; Nabi 2-24) lost to Northamptonshire 158/1 in 17.5 overs (Vasconcelos 78*; Trevaskis 1-25) by 9 wickets with 13 balls to spare. Player of the Match: Adam Rossington.
Ricardo Vasconcelos (78* off 57) and Adam Rossington (59 off 38) helped Northamptonshire clinch their maiden victory this season, against Durham by nine wickets.
Despite Sean Dickson’s career-best 37-ball 51, Durham were restricted to 157/5 after coming to bat first. Mohammad Nabi (2-24) and Graeme White (2-31) claimed two wickets each. In reply, Vasconcelos and Rossington shared a 125-run opening stand before Northamptonshire reached the target with 13 balls to spare.
Surrey v Somerset, The Oval
Surrey 146/8 in 20 overs (Jacks 65; Leach 3-28) lost to Somerset 149/3 in 18.4 overs (Hildreth 72*; Batty 1-21) by 7 wickets with 8 balls to spare. Player of the Match: James Hildreth.
Somerset secured their second win in the competition following their seven-wicket win over Surrey at The Oval. Jack Leach returned 3-28 and a run out on his T20 debut to restrict Surrey to 146/8. Will Jacks top-scored with 43-ball 65, while no batter scored in excess of 20.
James Hildreth (72* off 59) and Will Smeed (42 off 29) added a 103-run stand for the second wicket after Tom Banton’s (5) early departure. The pair, alongside Tom Lammonby (23* off 15) helped Somerset reach the target with eight balls to spare.
