Cricket West Indies (CWI) has confirmed a jam-packed schedule for their Men’s team this summer. They will be playing South Africa, Australia and Pakistan between June and August.
‘Following the successful hosting of the all-format series against Sri Lanka earlier this year, we are delighted to announce that we are set to welcome South Africa, Australia and Pakistan to the West Indies,’ said CWI CEO Johnny Grave.
South Africa will arrive at St Lucia on 1 June. They will kickstart the tour with a two-match Test series. Grenada National Cricket Stadium will then host five T20Is, starting from 26 June.
Earlier in March, South Africa named Dean Elgar as the new captain in Test cricket. Temba Bavuma replaced Quinton de Kock in the other two formats. They recently lost both the three-match ODI series and four-match T20I series to Pakistan at home.
This will be South Africa’s first tour to the Caribbean in more than a decade. They will then travel to Ireland for three ODIs and as many T20Is.
Australia will be the next team to tour West Indies. They will be playing five T20Is and three ODIs. Darren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia will host all T20Is, while the ODI leg will be played at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown.
West Indies will then host Pakistan for five T20Is and two Tests. They will play the first two matches at Kensington Oval before travelling to Providence, Guyana for the last three T20Is. Sabina Park, Kingston will then host the Test matches, starting from 12 August.
Overall, the hosts will be playing as many as 15 T20Is, 4 Tests and 3 ODIs. CWI has not yet confirmed the availability of the fans in the stadium, while the players, staffs and officials are required to adhere to medical protocols.
