West Indies need four wickets to win the second Test match against Bangladesh, at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. There are still two days left, and the best Bangladesh can hope for at this point is to score the 42 runs they need to make West Indies bat again. Unfortunately, not much batting is there to follow if one of Nurul Hasan (16*) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (0*) falls early. Unless it rains, West Indies should be able to wrap up the match on the fourth morning.

West Indies resumed the day on 340/5. Mehidy (3-91) struck early when Joshua Da Silva (29) tried to sweep him, missed the line, and was leg before. Kyle Mayers (146) added 20 to his overnight score before hitting a slower ball from Shoriful Islam (2-76) to mid on. Khaled Ahmed (5-106) then ran through the tail to take his first five-wicket haul in Test cricket and restrict West Indies to a lead of 176.

Kemar Roach (3-32) then struck thrice in his first spell. Tamim Iqbal (4) chased a wide ball, Mahmudul Hasan Joy (13) was undone by a ball that took off from just short of a length, and Anamul Haque (4) was trapped leg before. Some resistance came from Najmul Hossain Shanto (42), but neither Litton Das (19) nor Shakib Al Hasan (16) put up a resistance.

Brief scores

Bangladesh 234 (Litton Das 53; Alzarri Joseph 3-50) and 132/6 (Najmul Hossain Shanto 42; Kemar Roach 3-32) trail West Indies 408 (Kyle Mayers 146; Khaled Ahmed 5-106) by 42 runs.
