Ireland beat West Indies by five wickets to level the series in a rain-marred contest at Sabina Park Cricket Ground, Kingston. They chased down a revised target of 168 in 32.4 overs after the match was reduced from 48 to 36 overs a side.
Andy McBrine was named Player of the Match for his 4-36 and 45-ball 35. Craig Young, too, bowled well for his three-wicket haul as West Indies were bowled out for 229.
The West Indian top order failed for the second time in a row. Young struck thrice in his opening spell to reduce them to 43/3. Roston Chase then played 40 balls for his 13 before being dismissed by McBrine.
Kieron Pollard (1) and Jason Holder (3) departed cheaply as well, and the score read 111/7 after Shamarh Brooks' gritty 43 came to an end. Romario Shepherd (50) and Odean Smith (46) then added 58 for the ninth wicket to take West Indies to a competitive total.
Ireland got off to a breezy start, thanks to a 15-ball 21 from Paul Stirling. William Porterfield (26) and McBrine (35) too chipped in with vital contributions before Harry Tector scored an unbeaten 54.
Ireland were at 157/4 before the rain stopped the play in the 32nd over. When play resumed, the match was reduced to 36 overs a side, and they needed only 11 runs to win this game.
The decider will be played at the same venue on 16 January.
