Babar Azam's unbeaten 54 kept the Sabina Park Test match evenly poised after Pakistan skidded to 65/4 in the morning session of Day 3. They finished the day on 160/5, having accrued a lead of 125.
Earlier, the last two West Indies batters could not add much to the tally. Shaheen Shah Afridi struck twice to wrap up them up for 253. Afridi ended with four wickets to his name, while Mohammad Abbas claimed three.
The Pakistan openers again failed to provide a decent start. Imran Butt was trapped lbw by Kemar Roach for an 11-ball duck. Azhar Ali and Abid Ali added 55 for the second wicket before the former become the second victim of Roach.
Jayden Seales then struck twice in the 25th over to reduce the visitors to 65/4. He first got rid of Abid (34), and then had Fawad Alam caught behind the stumps.
Babar, however, stood firm, and added 56 with Mohammad Rizwan for the fifth wicket. Roach drew a few edges off Babar, but the ball never reached the fielders at slip cordon.
Rizwan, too, looked solid, and never let the pressure build upon him. He played his shots, hitting four fours and a six before his stay was abrupted by Jason Holder on 30.
Faheem Ashraf came as a solid presence, played over 79 balls for his 12. Babar, meanwhile, completed his half-century.
Brief scores: Pakistan 217 (Fawad Alam 56; Jason Holder 3-26) and 160/5 (Babar Azam 54*; Kemar Roach 2-15) lead West Indies 253 (Kraigg Brathwaite 97; Shaheen Shah Afridi 4-59) by 124 runs.
