West Indies will be up against South Africa in the third T20I of the five-match series at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua, on Monday (13 September). West Indies need to win this game at any cost to keep the series alive.
West Indies have lost the first two ODIs by a heavy margin. They haven't been able to put up a decent total. The opening pair of Hayley Matthews and Kycia Knight needs to step up. Neither of them have crossed the double-digit mark in two innings.
They were skittled out for 120 after opting to bat first in the second ODI. Kycia Knight's 22 was the highest score of the innings. Other than her, only Qiana Joseph scored more than 20. The hosts missed Britney Cooper, who was ruled out due to an injury endured while batting in the first game.
South Africa are a team to beat in this format. They possess a reliable and explosive top-order in Lizelle Lee, Dane van Niekerk and Laura Wolvaardt. But there's not much batting beyond that.
Wolvaardt struck an unbeaten 71 to help her team chase down 121 in just 25.4 overs. Lara Goodall, promoted to No. 3, also contributed 25 runs. Marizanne Kapp picked three wickets, while Ayabonga Khaka, Sune Luus and van Niekerk picked two wickets apiece.
