Let us have a look at how each of the South African players fared in the two-match Test series against West Indies.
Quinton de Kock: 9 (M 2, R 237, Ave 118.5)
De Kock hit a career-best of 141 not out in the first Test match to inspire South Africa an innings victory. He followed that with 96 in the second Test. A duck in his final innings could not prevent him bagging the Player of the Series trophy.
Kagiso Rabada: 8.5 (M 2, W 11, Ave 11.45, R 65, Ave 32.5)
With 12 scalps at 11.45, Rabada was the highest wicket-taker of the series. His 70-run stand with Rassie van der Dussen, where he contributed with 40, was arguably the most entertaining partnership of the series.
Keshav Maharaj: 8 (M 2, W 9, Ave 12.44)
Maharaj became the toast of South Africa after claiming a hat-trick in the second Test. He took five wickets in the innings, and bagged nine wickets in the series at 12.44.
Rassie van der Dussen: 7.5 (M 2, R 125, Ave 62.5)
Van der Dussen played a crucial 75 not out in the second Test. He took South Africa from 73/7 from 174, which later proved to be the deciding knock in the contest.
Lungi Ngidi: 7.5 (M 2, W 8, Ave 13.25)
Ngidi claimed the second five-wicket haul of his Test career in the first match, but got three more wickets in his next three innings.
Anrich Nortje: 7.5 (M 2, W 8, Ave 19.62)
Nortje has been a threat to West Indies batters whenever he came to bowl. He claimed eight wickets at 19.62 and ruled Nkrumah Bonner out of the series with a sharp bouncer.
Dean Elgar: 5 (M 2, R 87, Ave 29)
Elgar the batter did not have a memorable start in his full-time captaincy career. He returned without scoring in the first Test but came back strongly in the second with 77. He faced 263 balls in the series.
Aiden Markram: 4 (M 2, R 64, Ave 21.33)
Markram began impressively in the first Test with 60, but his next two innings fetched him just four runs more.
Wiaan Mulder: 4 (M 2, W 3, Ave 14, R 33, Ave 11)
Mulder, the only decorated South African all-rounder of the series, had a spell of 3-1. He also scored 33 runs.
Keegan Petersen: 2.5 (M 2, R 44, Ave 14.66)
Debutant Petersen had the opportunity to run top of the order, but he wasted all three innings, aggregating a mere 44.
Kyle Verreynne: 2.5 (M 2, R 39, Ave 13)
Verreynne, another debutant, made little impact in the Test series. All he managed was 6, 27 and again 6.
