Kane Williamson has made himself unavailable for the upcoming T20I series versus India. He will instead focus on the two-match Test series that will get underway from 25 November. Tim Southee shall lead in his place.
'With the opening game of the T20 series on Wednesday evening, followed by games on Friday and Sunday night – the decision was made for Williamson to join the Test specialist group already training in Jaipur as they focus on red-ball preparation,' elaborated NZC.
On Sunday night, New Zealand suffered an eight-wicket defeat against Australia in the T20 World Cup final. Williamson scored 85 and finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer for his team.

Lockie Ferguson, who missed the T20 World Cup due to a strain in his right calf, is likely to be available for the T20I series.
