Women’s Ashes 2022/23, second T20I: Preview, fantasy tips, likely XIs Image

After a nine-wicket win in the first match less than 48 hours ago, Australia will again take on England on 22 January,  in the second T20I of the Women’s Ashes at the Adelaide Oval.

In the first T20I, England got off to a decent start after Meg Lanning asked them to bat. Openers Tammy Beaumont and Danni Wyatt added 82 in 61 balls to set the tone, and Nat Sciver carried the momentum. They posted 169/4, Wyatt top-scoring with 54-ball 70.

Australia lost Alyssa Healy inside Powerplay, to Sophie Ecclestone, but Lanning and Tahlia McGrath cut loose almost immediately. In a display of uninhibited strokeplay, they added an unbroken 144 for the second wicket to take their side over the line with 18 balls to spare.

In the process, Lanning became the first Australian woman to score more than 3,000 runs in T20Is. She remained unbeaten on 44-ball 64, and McGrath on 49-ball 91.

England will look to come up with an improved bowling performance to get two points in the multi-format series. However, they are unlikely to make changes to the XI. Australia are likely to field the same lineup as well. They are high on confidence and will be keen to increase the lead.

The second T20I is expected to be another high-scoring contest, although there is a possibility of rain.
