The third and final T20I of the ongoing Women's Ashes 2022 will be played at the Adelaide Oval on 23 January. Australia won the first T20I, while only 4.1 overs of play was possible in the second due to persistent rain. Both sides settled for a point each, leaving Australia with a 3-1 lead on points.
Tayla Vlaeminck missed the second game due to a right foot injury, and is unlikely to be available here. This has been a recurrent issue for Vlaeminck, who had also missed the T20 World Cup 2020 due to a stress fracture in the same foot. Darcie Brown will be her replacement.
Beth Mooney's comeback seems more imminent. She has already returned to training sessions. However, the team management does not want to rush her in. Meg Lanning was terrific as opener in the first T20I, scoring an unbeaten 64 in 44 balls. Barring a forced change due to Vlaeminck's injury, Australia will go unchanged from the first ODI.
England, on the other hand, responded to their nine-wicket defeat by handing a T20I debut to Charlie Dean, who is likely to retain her place ahead of Maia Bouchier. They will expect consistency from Sarah Glenn and Freya Davies, both of them went for over 10 runs per over.
Tammy Beaumont and Danni Wyatt added 82 for the opening stand in the first T20I. Wyatt scored 70 off 54 to drive England to 169/4. The duo will be the key for England to put up a big total.
