Rachel Priest’s unbeaten 107 led Hobart Hurricanes to their first win of the WBBL 2021 as they bamboozled Melbourne Stars by 63 runs in Match 6 of the competition in Hobart.
Riding on Priest’s 68-ball knock, laced with seven sixes and 10 fours, the Hurricanes posted 152/4 after being put in. With 4-1-22-3, Annabel Sutherland was the pick of the Stars bowlers, while Tess Flintoff returned 1-23 and Linsey Smith 1-35.
The Stars were never really on the chase, against Ruth Johnston (4-8), Molly Strano (2-21) and Nicola Carey (2-11), and limped to 89 in 19.2 overs. Meg Lanning top-scored with a 28-ball 25, but the second-highest score was a mere 13.
Match 7, Brisbane Heat v Perth Scorchers

After suffering a Super Over defeat less than 48 hours ago, Brisbane Heat toppled Perth Scorchers by 59 runs in their rematch on 19 October.
Asked to bat, Georgia Redmayne’s 52-ball 59 not out, Grace Harris’s 30-ball 34 and Georgia Voll’s 17-ball 24 steered the Heat to 162/5. Heather Graham bowled tightly for her two wickets. Marizanne Kapp bowled a maiden over but went wicketless.
The Scorchers lost Beth Mooney for a golden duck to Nicola Hancock (3-19) in the first over, and were never back in the hunt after that blow. Poonam Yadav (2-15) and Harris (3-16) then spun a web around the Scorchers batters to wrap them up for 103 in 17.2 overs.
