Perth Scorchers claimed their maiden WBBL title after defeating Adelaide Strikers by 12 runs at Optus Stadium. The match was attended by over 15,000 fans, a record for a standalone WBBL game.
Marizanne Kapp was adjudged as Player of the Match for her 23-ball 31 and figures of 4-1-25-1.
Asked to bat first, the Scorchers got off a decent start, thanks to a 52-run opening stand between Sophie Devine (run out 33) and Beth Mooney. Mooney, however, struggled to get going, and took 25 balls for her 19. A late surge from Kapp, along with 5-ball 14 from Alana King, propelled the Scorchers to 146/5.
The strikers lost both openers, Dane van Niekerk and Katie Mack, inside the Powerplay, while Kapp and Devine bowled a maiden over each. Laura Wolvaardt (25) and Tahlia McGrath (36) added 65 for the third wicket. Madeline Penna then remained unbeaten on 30, but the Strikers fell 12 runs short of the target.
