Let us take a look at the highlights of Match 19 of the inaugural edition of Women’s Hundred that took place on 5 August.
Manchester Originals v Southern Brave, Old Trafford
Southern Brave 123/7 in 100 balls (Taylor 28*; Jones 3-17) lost to Manchester Originals 97/1 in 70 balls (Lee 43*) by 17 runs (DLS Method). Player of the Match: Lizelle Lee.
Manchester Originals produced an upset in the Women’s Hundred with a 17-run win by the DLS Method, against the previously unbeaten Southern Brave, in Match 19, at Old Trafford, Manchester.
Chasing 124, Lizelle Lee (43* runs off 32 balls) and Emma Lamb (32 off 23) added 52 for the opening wicket before Anya Shrubsole ran Lamb out. Lee then shared an unbroken 45-run stand with Mignon du Preez (15*) before rain prevented further play.
The Originals, 17 runs ahead at this point, registered their first win of the competition at the fifth attempt.
Earlier, Stafanie Taylor and Sophia Dunkley had made 28 each to take Brave to 123/7 after Kate Cross won the toss and asked them to bat. They lost their last four wickets in seven balls, for just five runs. Hannah Jones (3-17) and Alex Hartley (3-29) claimed three wickets each for the Originals.
