Dane van Niekerk guided the Oval Invincibles to snatch an eight-wicket victory over Birmingham Phoenix, in Match 18 of the Women’s Hundred, at Edgbaston.
Chasing 130, van Niekerk hit eight fours and a six in her unbeaten 51-ball 67 after coming to open. She helped the Invincibles reach the target with three balls to spare. She and Georgia Adams (42 runs in 30 balls) shared a 90-run opening wicket stand to make this happen. Kirstie Gordon (2-20) took both wickets for Phoenix.
Earlier, Erin Burns had top-scored with 28-ball 45 in Phoenix’s 129/9 after they opted to bat. Tash Farrant was the pick of the Invincibles bowlers, with 3-23, while van Niekerk (2-16) also had two to her name.
