Birmingham Phoenix v Trent Rockets, Edgbaston
Trent Rockets 145/5 in 100 balls (Graham 44*; Gordon 1-20) beat Birmingham Phoenix 134/9 in 100 balls (Wong 27; Johnson 3-28) by 11 runs. Player of the Match: Heather Graham.
Trent Rockets edged past Birmingham Phoenix in Match 14 of the Women’s Hundred to continue their resurgence in the competition. After losing their first two games, Rockets have now won the next two to move into the top half of the table.
Earlier, Heather Graham’s unbeaten 21-ball 44 guided Rockets reach 145/5 after they opted to bat. Sammy-Jo Johnson (29) and Nat Sciver (27) also chipped in with useful contributions to the third-highest total so far in the Women’s edition.
In reply, Phoenix lost wickets in regular intervals, slumping to 92/7 at one point. Izzy Wong (27 runs of 11 balls) then played a breezy cameo to keep them in the hunt, but Katherine Brunt (2-19) dismissed her and shattered their hopes. Phoenix finished with 134/9. Brunt was ably assisted by Johnson (3-28).
London Spirit v Southern Brave, Lord’s
London Spirit 93 in 96 balls (Beaumont 34; Wellington 4-14) lost to Southern Brave 97/3 in 92 balls (Taylor 29*; Sharma 2-10) by 7 wickets with 8 balls to spare. Player of the Match: Amanda-Jade Wellington.
Southern Brave maintained their perfect start to the Women's Hundred with a comfortable seven-wicket win over London Spirit, in Match 15 at Lord's.
Amanda-Jade Wellington returned 4-14 and also ran out Naomi Dattani (1) with a direct hit as Spirit were bowled out for just 93 off 96 balls after being asked to bat. Tammy Beaumont top-scored with 34, but she took 45 balls, for there was no support at the other end. This, despite Brave conceding 25 wides.
Chasing a puny target, Brave lost Smriti Mandhana (3) early, trapped leg-before by Deepti Sharma (2-10). Danni Wyatt (21) and Sophia Dunkley (22) then took charge before Stafanie Taylor (29*) took them home with eight balls to spare.
